Artemis, a modern female scholar, accidentally travels back in time and becomes a slave from a fallen kingdom in an ancient Egyptian temple, only to suffer persecution from the family of the high priest Paneh. In a desperate moment, she forcefully kisses and takes advantage of Akharem, the supreme pharaoh. Though Akharem knows full well he is being used, he is willing to shield her from all harm; he even makes a domineering entrance to rescue her at the slave market, and later lets her go with a broken heart after learning the truth about her feelings. Three years later, Artemis uncovers the truth and is crowned queen. Together with Akharem, she sends their enemies to ruin during the great temple judgment. In the end, the two forge a peace treaty as equals, and share a profound, passionate love as pharaoh and queen.
