Rosalind Landon is jilted by fiancé Elias Garrett, who frees Isla Jennings, demanding Rosalind be a secondary wife. Rosalind refuses, proposing to Lord Regent Silas Sterling; he accepts. Elias and Isla try to humiliate Rosalind. The Noble Consort acknowledges Rosalind's engagement to Silas, expels Elias and Isla. Elias, blaming Rosalind, conspires with Isla to kidnap her. The plot fails, Elias blames Isla. Elias is exiled, Isla sold. Rosalind and Silas marry. Elias meets a miserable end.
