Leo Landon decides to divorce his wife, Jane Jennings, who relentlessly subsidizes her younger brother and watches with cold indifference as his mother falls ill. He tricks the Jennings family for a fake investment, leading to the loss of their money. Leo presents evidence that gets them taken away by the authorities. At the trial, Jane's mother and brother produce a forged promissory note, but Jane testifies against them. They are sentenced, Leo moves to Seaview City to begin a new life.
