Grace and her children are driven out by her mother-in-law, Old Mrs. Shaw. Finn Shaw and Chloe Shaw discover a door in the woodshed that leads to another world. They make a living. After her husband, John Shaw, returns, he separates the family. The family improves their lives, sending the children to school, finding happiness.
