Helen Linden, Deputy Director of the ED, reprimands her son, Ian Jacobs, an Attending Physician. Ian suspects his mother doesn't love him. Through collaborations, Ian discovers her hidden love behind cold rebukes. During a mass casualty incident, they work together. Ian understands his mother's strictness was to make him worthy of the White Coat. He chooses to stay in the ED and fight alongside his mother. Under the white coat lies a deep, unspoken love.
