Linden Collins, a worker about to retire, learns that the new director, Phoebe Lane, is his son's girlfriend. Phoebe, wanting her future father-in-law's approval, flatters him. She mistakenly takes Linden's arch-rival, Ian Collins, for her future father-in-law. Ian exploits this. Linden sees Phoebe's materialistic nature and saves his son, Leo Collins, from marriage.
