Vivian Sutton, a top investor in the entertainment industry, single-handedly turned her husband, Howard Shaw, from an unknown production assistant into a famous director. However, Howard grew arrogant with success. He not only publicly ignored his wife's contributions at an awards ceremony but also grew inappropriately close with his junior, Nana Quinn, and even replaced the lead actress Vivian had personally chosen. After her repeated warnings went unheeded, Vivian became completely disheartened. She decisively pulled her investment, replaced the director, and filed for divorce. Overconfident in his talent, Howard attempted to direct a film independently but failed miserably due to his incompetence and being deserted by everyone. Meanwhile, Vivian backed a new director, Leo Lin, whose film became a massive success and earned an Oscar nomination. After his own film flopped at the box office and with critics, and being betrayed by Nana Quinn, Howard suffered a mental breakdown and ultimately committed suicide.
