Elinor Astor, the matriarch of New York’s top‑tier wealthy Astor family, offers a fifty‑million‑dollar reward to stop heir Charles from marrying the scheming Olivia. She hires Evelyn Sullivan, who struggles in Brooklyn’s slums and was once committed to a psychiatric hospital by her adoptive parents. Her core mission is to make Charles break up with Olivia of his own accord. Bearing a long‑standing blood feud, Evelyn accepts the deal. While fulfilling her employer’s assignment and steadily shattering Olivia’s wealthy‑family dream, she secretly gathers full evidence of abuse, illegal confinement and trust‑fund fraud perpetrated jointly by her adoptive parents and Olivia. She bides her time to reclaim her true identity and settle scores with all her enemies. Through her interactions with Evelyn, Charles gradually sees through all Olivia’s despicable ploys. He falls for the reserved, resilient yet deeply traumatized Evelyn, getting dragged into the feud‑ridden whirlpool of two powerful clans and the conflict between the real and fake heiress. All conflicts come to a head at an elite charity gala, where all long‑buried conspiracies and identity frauds are laid bare to the public.
