The Marriage Exchange

Ivy Shaw is unmarried. Her mother enlists Matchmaker Faye, who proposes a Marriage Exchange. Ivy and Angus Stark fall in love at first sight. However, Angus's sister, Lily, cannot accept marrying a fool and resists the arrangement. Under pressure, Lily is forced into the marriage. Lily flees the village, and Ivy and Angus are separated by Ivy's mother. In despair, Ivy takes her own life. Both marriages, born from the custom of Marriage Exchange, end in tragedy.
