Fynn accepts Arthur's dying wish to help his daughter, Lena, fulfill a three-year marriage pact. Cain Yates grows close with Lena. When the three years are up, Lena and Cain turn on him. They strip Fynn of his title. Fynn, bound by a promise of 'snow in June,' refuses to leave. Cain frames Fynn for embezzlement. When icy rain falls in June, Fynn leaves. As snow falls, a panicked Lena pursues him.
