As a boy, the protagonist, Liam Linden, was on the verge of dropping out of school due to poverty. He was taken in and sponsored by a kind teacher, Ms. Helen Chen, and became classmates and friends with her son, Leo Shaw. Ms. Chen's fairness and kindness were the only light in his dark life. Years later, after becoming successful, Liam learns that Ms. Chen lost her son in her later years and is suffering from bullying.
