Seven years ago, Enzo, the blind mafia boss, was cured by a cornea donation anonymously given by his lover Nina. Unaware of the truth, he deeply resents her over the heartless letter she left. Now, his family moves to strip his power for having no heir, while the gravely ill, comatose Nina raises their four-year-old daughter Rosie alone. Carrying half a gold token, Rosie travels to raise money for her mother and meets Enzo's mother Teresa, who suspects her parentage and brings her home for a paternity test. Enzo, however, mistakes them for greedy swindlers and throws them out. When the test confirms Rosie is his child, Nina has already been dragged away by her cruel aunt. Enzo rescues the unconscious Rosie in the rain and confronts the aunt at gunpoint; she lies that Nina abandoned her family and fled, plunging him back into pain and misunderstanding.
