Sierra Shaw, chosen by Lady Vaughn, impersonates a Tribute Maiden for Southern Dynasty to infiltrate Crown Prince Julian Preston for intelligence. She fights alongside him to thwart Prince Hector Preston's rebellion. They become comrades/lovers. To protect Julian, Sierra fakes death. Three years later, a Northern Marches leader uses her identity to provoke war; Sierra returns. She becomes hostage for peace for Julian/Southern Dynasty. She retires to wilderness, leaving a stable realm for him.
