Aria Orwell's fiancé, Miles Shaw, betrays her, selling her to a Sakuran officer. Aria escapes, exposes Miles. Her father, Marshal Orion Orwell, saves Aria, stripping Miles of everything. Brother Silas colludes with Sakurans; the first mistress tries to poison Aria. Aria, as Grandmaster, suppresses rebellion. Miles is killed by Vivian Wallace. Fujiwara Masamune is executed; the first mistress dies. Aria takes the Marshal's Seal, rising to female marshal.
